24/7 Technical Support

Fourier Transform IR Spectroscopy (FTIR)

CEMs professionals performing EPA Method 320, 321, or ASTM 6348-03, can rely on Pine’s comprehensive FTIR capabilities that encompass application development, just in time rentals, and custom mobile systems for short term rental and purchase. The following applications are typical uses for the FTIR:

  • Emission quantification for Subpart JJJJ  & Subpart ZZZZ
  • MACT studies for HAP compliance and surrogate determination
  • Stack testing methods 320, 321, & ASTM 6348-03
  • Process monitoring for ammonia and hydrogen chloride emissions
  • Realtime volatile organic speciation and formaldehyde analysis

We provide in-house technical training for every FTIR rental and for customers needing further assistance our highly skilled technicians are available for on-site installations, setup, and training. Pine has a complete line of support equipment for turnkey applications, or if needed or we can build you a complete FTIR system for long term installation. Be sure to ask about our mobile Voyager FTIR CART system!

Pine provides a first-class technical support service as well as advice on which product will be best suited to your needs. Our quality management system insures that all equipment is tested and calibrated to manufacturer’s specifications when you receive it. FT-IR stands for Fourier Transform InfraRed, a technique used in material analysis. In infrared spectroscopy, IR radiation is passed through a molecular structure where some of it gets absorbed and some of it passes (transmits) through, which then creates a spectrum representing the absorption and transmission. Since no two molecular structures produce the same infrared spectrum, FTIR maps a unique molecular fingerprint of the sample. This is extremely useful in determining the identity of unknown materials, quality, quantity or consistency of a structure. FTIR is considered as quite an advancement over dispersive types of analysis where those instruments separate the individual frequencies of energy emitted from the infrared source through the use of a prism. The prism separates visible light into its colors (frequencies), or grating, a dispersive element which separates the frequencies of infrared energy, resulting in a spectrum which is a plot of intensity vs. frequency.

Pine’s FTIR based gas analyzers have the capability of percent level detection as well as ppb sensitivity for multiple gas species in a variety of applications. You will have the capability to simultaneously analysing and displaying of more than 30 gases.  An FTIR system is the perfect solution for applications in automotive emissions monitoring, stack monitoring, ambient air analysis and CO2 contamination.
